It should be obvious that preventive medicine is obligatory by Torah law, and this is apparent in the Talmud as well as early and later authorities, throughout the history of halacha. There are two key points that cause people to be negligent about preventive medicine, but these are halachically and philosophically erroneous within certain parameters.
